Remember those Alexander McQueen skull print scarves that were knocked off by everyone everywhere? I found one for $20 at LifeLine Annerley Road Retro - these still cost around $300-ish.
The Op Shops on Annerley Road are awesome - the LifeLine has a dedicated wall to goth and steampunk fashion as well as a whole room dedicated to cheap costumes. There are regular buses that stop there and there are some cute cafes in the area, I recommend Groove next to the Lifeline. I’m super happy with this scarf since I wanted one since forever!
Vintage Revival is a Lifeline charity store that specializes in retro, vintage, goth, steampunk and costumes as well some of the slightly nicer bits of bric a brac.
It’s so cool to see a shop with a dedicated section for Goth fashions and retro/vintage items that work for Steampunk. Putting together costumes from era styled vintage clothes is made easy here as they have racks for 20s, 50s, 70s and 80s style fashions as well as Greaser and Rock-a-billy styles. If you just want a straight up costume they have a whole side room with nothing but, so don’t pay way too much for the packaged ones come Halloween or themed night and there’s a huge selection. I found my McQueen skull scarf here and a beautiful set of crochet gloves which I’ll write about later :)
There are several other charity thrift shops on this end of Annerley Road as well as an Antiques center which I need to visit next time I’m there. Don’t forget to wander around the little arcades and downstairs businesses like Ace Comics and Games as well as Handmade Highstreet which showcases some fantastically priced and useful hand made items.
